HAZRAT SALIM ABU HUZIAFAH

There was a market in Madinah, the intensity of the heat was so high that people were getting cold, a merchant was standing worried with a slave with him, the slave who was still a child was also standing in the sun and sweating.

All the merchant's possessions were sold at a good price, only this slave remained, which no one showed any interest in buying. The merchant was thinking that he might have made a loss by buying this slave.

 He had thought that he would get a good profit, but here it was becoming difficult to find the actual cost. He had thought that now if this slave sold for full price, he would sell it immediately.

A girl from Madinah saw this slave and asked the merchant how much he would sell this slave for? The merchant said that I have taken so much and will give only so much. 

The girl took pity on the child and bought it. The businessman also thanked God and took the way back.

When Abu Huzaifa came to Medina from Makkah, he also came to know the story of this girl. Impressed by the kindness of the girl, he sent a message of marriage for her, which was accepted. Thus, on his return, the girl whose name was Thabita bint Yayar accompanied him as his wife and the slave also reached Makkah with his mistress.

When Abu Hudhayfah came to Makkah and met his old friend Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him), he found something changed and felt a coldness in his behavior. He asked his friend why Usman is so cold!! So Uthman bin Affan replied that I have accepted Islam and you have not yet become Muslims, so how can our friendship continue. Abu Hudhayfah said, "Then take me to Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and introduce me to the Islam that you have accepted." 

So Hazrat Uthman (RA) presented him to the service of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and he entered the circle of Islam after reciting the word. When he came home, he told his wife and slave that he was a Muslim, so they both recited the word.

Hazrat Abu Hudhayfah (RA) said to this slave that since you have also become a Muslim, I can no longer keep you as a slave, so you are now free from my side. Ghulam said, 

Master. ! I have no one in this world now except you two. If you set me free, where will I go? Hazrat Abu Hudhayfah (RA) took this slave as his son and kept him with him. 

Ghulam started learning the Holy Quran and memorized a lot of Quran within a few days. And when he recited the Qur'an, he recited it in a very beautiful tone.

Among the Companions who migrated to Madinah before the Prophet ﷺ at the time of Hijra was Hazrat Umar (RA) along with Hazrat Abu Hudhayfah (RA) and his adopted son. On reaching Madinah, when it was time to appoint an imam for the prayer, this slave was chosen as the imam due to his beautiful recitation and memorization of the Quran the most. And companions like Jalil-ul-Qadr like Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, used to pray during his Imamate.

When the Jews of Madinah saw him leading, they were surprised that this was the same slave that no one was willing to buy. Today, see how much honor has been given that the Imam of the Muslims has been made.

Allah made him so eloquent that when he used to recite the verses of the Quran, people would be enthralled and passers-by would start listening. 

Once, Umm al-Mominin Hazrat Aisha (RA) was late in coming to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). When he asked the reason for the pause, he said that a reciter was reciting. They are sitting and reciting. 

The Prophet ﷺ was happy and said: I am grateful to Allah Almighty that He made a person like you in my ummah.

Do you know who these lucky companions were? 

His name was" Hazrat Salim". Who was known as "Salim Molly Abu Hudhayfah". He was martyred in the Battle of Mota.
